Documents Preparation

  • Cover Letter and Requirements Checklist: Complete the Cover Letter and Requirements Checklist to ensure you meet all the necessary criteria and provide an overview of your application.

  • Business Plan Template: Work on the Business Plan Template, outlining your business strategy, including market potential, financial projections, and risk management strategies. Use the provided Tables & Figures Excel Template to create any necessary quantitative data or visual representations, which should be incorporated directly into the Business Plan Template (Word document) for a comprehensive presentation.

  • Incubation Proposal Template: Fill out the Incubation Proposal Template to detail how your startup plans to use the support provided by ESA BIC Andalusia to achieve its objectives.

Before submitting, review all your documents carefully. Ensure that each section is completed according to the instructions provided in the templates.

Once everything is in order, convert your documents to PDF format. Submit them as specified in the Open Call document to the designated email address: opencall-esabic-andalusia@catec.aero

Important: Ensure your submission is completed before the announced cut-off date. Submissions received after the cut-off deadline will not be considered for that particular round.

After submitting your application to ESA BIC Andalusia, the post-submission process is as follows:

  • TOB Review: Your application first undergoes an initial screening by the Tender Opening Board (TOB). The TOB checks the completeness of your application and whether it meets the formal requirements.

  • TEB Evaluation: If the TOB process is successful, your application is then forwarded to the Tender Evaluation Board (TEB). The TEB is composed of representatives from the European Space Agency (ESA), the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), ESA BIC Andalusia, the Junta de Andalucía as regional co-funder, and external experts. This board will conduct a detailed evaluation of your proposal, focusing on technical feasibility, business potential, and alignment with the goals of the ESA BIC programme.

Interview with TEB: As part of the TEB evaluation, you will be invited to present your business idea. This interview, conducted in English, is a crucial step, allowing you to discuss your project in detail and answer any questions from the board.

Ensure that you carefully prepare for the TEB interview by thoroughly understanding your proposal and being ready to discuss both the technical and business aspects in detail.

  • TEB Decision & Certificate: Once the TEB has completed its evaluation and your interview, you will be formally notified of the outcome. If approved, ESA will issue your official TEB Selection Certificate, confirming your eligibility to secure the Junta de Andalucía’s co-financing approval prior to final contract signature. Detailed instructions for the co-financing application process follow.

  • Contract Signing: Once the contract is signed, your startup officially begins its incubation period with ESA BIC Andalusia.

After receiving your TEB Selection Certificate, you must submit your regional co-funding application via the Junta de Andalucía’s e-Office portal before the deadline indicated in the Call to secure co-funding from the regional authority. Complete the non-competitive grant form as established in the Open Call documentation and the referenced Regulatory Bases, attach your TEB Selection Certificate and all required administrative documents, and submit through the official channel.

Regional co-funding is awarded to projects that have passed the TEB evaluation and meet the formal eligibility requirements set out in the Open Call and Regulatory Bases. Applications are processed in order of validation and subject to budget availability. You will then be notified of the award decision.

Upon confirmation of your regional co-funding, you will sign the Incubation Contract. With your signature in place, your incubation officially begins, granting you access to a comprehensive suite of programme services—high-level mentoring, state-of-the-art technical facilities, expert business coaching, dedicated legal & IPR support, the 60K € financing package, dynamic networking events, and community collaboration opportunities.

Welcome aboard: incubation officially starts!
